About
A local crew of carpenters who frame, close in and finish houses, garages, shops and anything in between, in and around Grey County.
Local crew. Serious builds.
CKThompson Contracting is Craig Thompson and a hard working crew of carpenters building homes, garages and shops in and around Grey County, Ontario.
The company is based in Markdale and works across Grey County, from the Beaver Valley to Owen Sound and south to Durham. The work runs from framing to finishing: foundations and site work, framing and additions, steel and shingle roofing, decks and porches, interior finishing, and the garages, shops and farm buildings that rural properties around here need.
Most of what we build we build ourselves. Our own carpenters pour the footings, frame the walls, set the trusses, put the roof on and finish the inside, so there is one crew on site and one person to call. When a job needs an electrician, plumber or HVAC trade, we bring them in and run the schedule so the work happens in the right order.
We are part of this community too. The crew builds the Markdale Santa Claus parade float every year, and in 2024 and 2025 we were voted Platinum in General Contractors by CommunityVotes Grey County. Thanks to such an amazing community for the support.

From first call to hand over
Call and site visit
Tell us what you want to build. We come out, walk the property with you, look at access, grade and drainage, and talk through what will and will not work on the lot.
Clear quote
You get a straight, itemised quote so you know exactly what you are getting, what is included and what the trades will quote separately. No surprises halfway through.
Frame and close in
Foundation, framing and roof go up with our own carpenters, and the building is closed in fast so the weather stays out and the inside work can start.
Finish and hand over
Interior finishing, trim, doors and the last details, then a final walk through with Craig before you move in or park the truck inside.
2025
Platinum, two years running
CommunityVotes Grey County voted CKThompson Contracting Platinum in General Contractors in 2024 and again in 2025. The votes come from local residents, and we take that as the best review a building company can get.
